VietNamNet Bridge - Residents in Hanoi’s Phu Thuong Ward (Tay Ho District) and Vinh Ngoc commune (Dong Anh District) have been amazed in recent days at the radiance of light emitted from the Nhat Tan Bridge.
The bridge is illuminated with five different colors. Nhat Tan Bridge is part of the ring road 2 project with a total length of 43.6 km.
Nhat Tan is considered the longest cable-stayed bridge in Vietnam, with a length of 8.9 km. It will help shorten the road from Hanoi’s center to Noi Bai Airport.
The project has a total investment of VND13.6 trillion, including loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Vietnamese Government’s reciprocal capital.
The bridge is lit by powerful lights from 19h to 22h daily.
The bridge will be opened for traffic in January 2015.
In late August, at a meeting with Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang, the Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Hiroshi Fukada proposed renaming the Nhat Tan Bridge to the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Bridge to mark a new step in the friendship between the two countries. The seventh bridge over the Red River in Hanoi may have two names: Nhat Tan and Vietnam-Japan Friendship.
