Since it's opening in June, Golden Bridge in the central coastal city of Da Nang has been attracting a lot of attention and has been receiving many compliments through social network channels and international media.
Nestled in Ba Na Hill 1,400 meters (nearly 4,600 feet) above sea level over a 150-meter (nearly 500 feet) deep valley, the bridge looks as if it's supported by two giant hands. It's located in the Truong Son mountain range.
The hands look like they are carved from stone, but they actually aren't. The skeleton of the hands was designed and covered with steel meshes before it was finished with fiberglass. The entire construction of the bridge took about a year.
The bridge snakes through a forest high up in mountains which was first developed by French colonists as a hill station in 1919. It's now become a tourist attraction.
The bridge looks like the giant hands of gods pulling a strip of gold out of the land, according to Reuters. To AFP, it's like a stroll on a shimmering thread stretching across the hands of gods. AFP also said that images of the bridge have gone viral on social media, much to the surprise of the architect who had no idea it would attract so much attention.
Boredpanda thought it looked like something from the mysterious world of the famous “Lord of the Rings” movies. Buzzfeed said that it was pretty surreal and must have come from the fantasy/drama TV series Game of Thrones.
Buzzfeed also posted pictures of travelers taking photos of themselves "hanging in the clouds." The bridge is definitely a great backdrop for taking incredible selfies. This is likely to become a popular destination for tourists in Vietnam.
The bridge was considered by Archdaily as one of the world's most unique bridges. Archdaily is one of the world’s leading architectural news sites. The bridge also got compliments from other architectural sites such as Design Boom and Creapills.
It was also featured on the Instagram account of Street Art Globe which has 7.1 million followers. Its video on Street Art Globe had 1.3 million views and more than 4,000 comments.
The design company of the bridge, TA Landscape Architecture, also revealed that they were working on a silver bridge that will be made to look like a god's strand of hair that's connected to the Golden Bridge.
Last year, Da Nang welcomed more than 6.6 million visitors, including 2.3 million foreign ones, which is an increase of 19 per cent and 39 per cent, respectively.
