Phuong Linh poses for photo on one of her many sightseeing trips around Tokyo, the site where 70 hopefuls from around the globe will vie on October 27 for the 56th Miss International pageant crown.

Phuong Linh poses with painting of ship she has presented to the contest committee. The chopsticks used as masts for the ship are made from aromatic sandalwood from the central region of Vietnam.

In the painting, the boat is heading out to sea at dawn – symbolizing Japan’s nickname as embodied on its national flag –  Land of the Rising Sun.

She also hopes the chopsticks will convey a traditional message of happiness, friendship and closeness between the two nations of Vietnam and Japan.

Through the painting, Linh hopes to highlight the time-honoured relationship between Vietnam and Japan over the years.
