Phuong Linh, representing Vietnam at Miss International 2016 in Japan, has come bearing a distinctive gift of a ship painting decorated with a set of chopsticks made of sandalwood for the contest committee.

In the painting, the boat is heading out to sea at dawn – symbolizing Japan’s nickname as embodied on its national flag –  Land of the Rising Sun.

She also hopes the chopsticks will convey a traditional message of happiness, friendship and closeness between the two nations of Vietnam and Japan.

Through the painting, Linh hopes to highlight the time-honoured relationship between Vietnam and Japan over the years.
