Businesswoman Truong Thi Tuyet Nga

Nga, 52, is now the General Director of Vu Anh International General Hospital in HCM City’s Go Vap District. She will be put on remand for four months and face prosecution.

According to the initial information, between late 2007 and early 2008, Mrs. Nga signed a contract to transfer the ownership right of a 30,000 square-metre land plot in District 2 to Duong Khanh L. who planned to invest in a luxury apartment and shopping centre project.

L. paid Nga a deposit of USD2 million and they agreed that within 18 months of the signing date, Nga would be responsible for providing L. with a construction license for the shopping centre and carrying out procedures to legally transfer the land plot to L.

Under the signed contract, Nga was not allowed to sell and mortgage the plot under any form without L.’s agreement. However, Nga sold part of the land plot to another person.

In April 2008, Nga used already-sold land plots as collateral to get a loan of VND131 billion (USD6.22 million) from a bank. She also finished procedures to transfer some of the said plots to her son Vu Hai Minh Anh, including the area used as the collateral for the bank.

The 30,000 square-metre land plot was not licensed by the HCM City Pepole’s Committee because it belonged to the planned area to build Thu Thiem Station; but Nga transferred it to many individuals, misappropriating USD3.1 million and did not repay the debt of VND170 billion owed to the bank.

Earlier, she was banned from leaving the country for a scam related to New Zealand International College Ltd.

Nga also finished as second runner-up of the Mrs. Global Vietnam contest held in California, the US, in November, 2012.

Nga, resides with her family at the luxury Saigon Pearl building in Binh Thanh District. She is a medical doctor and general director of Vu Anh International General Hospital.
