VietNamNet Bridge – A Knight Frank report predicts that in the next 10 years, the number of super-rich in Vietnam will double to 300, followed by Indonesia and the Ivory Coast.

According to the research firm’s Wealth Report 2015, the number of super-rich people in the world has increased to more than 172,000, with total assets of nearly $22.000 billion last year. As defined by Knight Frank, the super-rich are people with assets of $30 million or more. By 2024, this group is expected to grow to 230,000 people.

In 2014 Vietnam had 116 super-rich people, up from six in 2013. In the next decade, Vietnam is predicted to have a growth rate of 159% in the number of super-rich, the highest rate in the world, to 300 people, followed by Indonesia with 132% and the Ivory Coast (119%).

Worldwide, London (UK) continues to be the city with the highest number of super-rich people, with more than 4,300 people, followed by New York (USA). London will continue to be at the top position in the next 10 years, according to Knight Frank.

However, Singapore is slowly catching up with the growth rate of 54% of millionaires this period, compared with only 21% of London.

The number of people with assets of $100 million and more also rose by nearly 1,200 to 38,280 people. Last year, 53 people became billionaires, bringing the number of billionaires worldwide to more than 1,800 people, an increase of 82% compared with 10 years ago.

In Asia, more than 1,400 people had assets of over $30 million last year. The super-rich people in Asia now hold $5,900 billion. However, total assets of European millionaires were $6,400 billion.

Knight Frank estimated that Asian cities will have a growth rate of 91% in the number of super-rich people in the next decade. The highest growth rates will belong to Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), Jakarta (Indonesia), Mumbai and Delhi (India).
