The meeting between Minister Thang and Airbus officials on Thursday.

During their talk, Minister Thang said that the aircraft manufacturer had contributed significantly to renewing Vietnam Airlines' fleet over the last 20 years.

Of the airline's total fleet during that time 70 per cent was supplied by Airbus, who provided 71 aeroplanes to the national carrier.

The private airline VietJetAir signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus last month for an order of 100 different types of aircraft.

The planes will be delivered between 2014 and 2022, with the first batch scheduled to arrive by the last quarter of next year.
