VietNamNet Bridge – Nguyen Tien Minh easily defeated the host rival Chun Hei Tam (the world’s 354th player) 2-0 to enter the third round (with 16 players) of the Super Series Hong Kong tournament.

As the 8th seed, Tien Minh was exempt from the first round. At the second round for 32 players on December 8, he trounced Chun Hei Tam  2-0 after only 33 minutes.

His next rival will be the winner in the game between Hong Kong’s Hu Yun and Indonesia’s Hayom Rumbaka.

If he passes the third round, Minh may face the Asian Games 2010 champion Lin Dan (China, the world’s 4th player) in the quarter final round.

Tien Minh fell from the world’s fifth to eighth position after his defeat at the Open China Badminton Tournament. The Super Series Hong Kong from December 6-12 is a chance for Vietnam’s top player to gain points to maintain his ranking.

This tournament has the participation of the world’s top player Lee Chong Wei, the world’s fourth and fifth players Lin Dan and Jin Chen.
