At present, Vietnam’s U23 team are currently taking part in a training camp in the Republic of Korea in preparation for the upcoming AFC U23 Championship 2020 finals which are scheduled to take place between January 8 and 26 in Thailand.

The team will return to the nation on December 22 and continue their preparations in Ho Chi Minh City.

Following the conclusion of their training in the southern city, head coach Park Hang Seo will lead the side to Thailand on January 1 where they will take on Bahrain’s U23 side two days later in a fixture organised by the Vietnam Football Federation.

Bahrain’s U23s team have been placed in Group A of the AFC U23 Championship 2020 finals alongside host nation Thailand.

The tie between Vietnam and Bahrain will see members of the media limited in a bid to ensure that both side’s tactics are kept a secret going into the tournament.

Elsewhere, Vietnam’s U23s have been placed in Group D alongside Jordan, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Vietnam are due to play fixtures against the UAE, Jordan, and the DPRK on January 10, January 13, and January 16, respectively.

The competition’s leading four teams will earn the right to compete in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. VOV
