VietNamNet Bridge – The General Statistic Office on December 31 announced that Vietnam’s unemployment rate in 2010 reached 2.88 percent, including 4.43 percent for the urban and 2.27 percent for the rural area.

In comparison with 2009, the unemployment rate reduced by 0.02 percent. Urban unemployment decreased 0.17 percent while it increased by 0.02 percent in the rural. The ratios were 2.9 percent, 4.6 percent and 2.25 percent, respectively, for 2009.
The percentage of people at the working age who lacked jobs in 2010 was 4.5 percent, including 2.04 percent for the urban and 5.47 percent for the rural area.
According to statistics, the number of people aged 15 and older in 2010 is more than 50.5 million, up by 2.68 percent over 2009, including over 46.2 million people at the working age, up by 2.12 percent.
The ratio of working-age people aged 15 and older rose from 76.5 percent of the population in 2009 to 77.3 percent in 2010.
The ratio of labor in the agriculture-forestry-fishery sector reduced from 51.9 percent in 2009 to 48.2 percent in 2010 while that in the industry and construction sector rose from 21.6 to 22.4 percent and from 26.5 to 29.4 percent in the service sector.
