Arrivals from China, the Republic of Korea, and Russia have continued to rise significantly in April, with China being the biggest market.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, about 322,000 Chinese visitors have come to Vietnam in April, up 54.3% over the same period and taking the total number of visitors from this country in the first four months to over 1.27 million.

This month has also seen 174,000 ROK people arriving in Vietnam, an increase of 56.9%, totaling over 701,000 visitors in the first four months.

The Russian market has generated growth of a staggering 57.2% with 55,490 people visiting Vietnam this month, taking the total to nearly 231,000 in the first four months.

There have been over 1.07 million international arrivals in Vietnam in April, up 34% year-on-year. In the first four months of this year, Vietnam welcomed more than 4.28 million international visitors, up 30.3% over the same period.

Many enterprises in HCM City told the Daily that the tourism sector has seen a growing number of tourists although April is the last month of the peak season for foreign tourists to come. Especially, the Chinese market is continuing to grow considerably, with some tour operators saying Chinese tourists accounting for 60-70% of the total number of their customers.

Some Chinese enterprises have booked a big number of hotel rooms for upcoming arrivals.

"Sometimes there are not enough three-to-four-star hotel rooms. We now need half a year to prepare rooms for Chinese tourists instead of two or three months as before," said Tu Quy Thanh, director of Lien Bang Travelink Company.

Ngo Duong Sieu, another businessman specializing in the Malaysian market, said there are more than 10 daily flights carrying Malaysian tourists to HCMC. The company will promote MICE (meeting, incentive, convention and exhibition) tourism.

The Malaysian market holds high growth potential due to the high shopping demand of Malaysian tourists, Sieu added.
