Mr Hung was born in 1962 and graduated from the telecommunications and electronics industry in the former Soviet Union. He received his Master of Business Administration degree from the National Economics University.
Hung has been instrumental in the transformation of Vietel into a powerful group to break the state monopoly in the Vietnam’s telecommunications market and secure a firm foothold in the international market, Xuan said.
According to a report from the Ministry of Information and Communications, last year, Viettel took the lead in terms of revenues and telephone subscribers.
The group’s total revenues reached around VND162,886 billion and contributed VND13, 586 billion to the state budget.
Viettel has so far invested in nine nations in three continents including Laos and Cambodia.
It is forecast that Hung will continue to help Viettel reap further success as a global leader and powerful business.
