For the first time in 14 years, Vietnam’s military run Viettelbecame the premier sponsor forthe Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC 2015) which opened on August 11 in Dallas, Texas, the US.

The contest has attracted 150 candidates from 80 nations in the world. Vietnamese students Tran Minh Tien, Pham Truong Giang and Nguyen ThiHienGia participated in the Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint categories respectively.

The prestigious event was organised by Certiport,a Pearson VUE business, which is the world leader in performance-based certification exams and practice test solutions for academic institutions, workforce and corporate technology markets.

As the premier sponsor, Viettel will have its logo appeared in all activities and publications of MOSWC 2015. Especially, candidates from different countries will wear uniform with Viettel logo.

In a press release on August 10, Ceritport said Viettel is now Vietnam’s largest telecoms group with $10 billion in revenue and over 90,000 employees.

The press release also quoted Tong Viet Trung, Viettel Deputy Director General as saying that the combination of IT and education will fill the gaps in education and provide people with opportunities to enjoy equal education. This is also a reason why Viettel wants to sponsor the event, he said.

The award ceremony will be held in Dallas, Texas on August 12.
