VietNamNet Bridge - Mr. To Dung Thai, director of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Hanoi branch, has been appointed CEO of the mobile network VNPT - VinaPhone, replacing Mr. Luong Manh Hoang, who will hold the presidency of VNPT - VinaPhone. Hoang was appointed VNPT-VinaPhone CEO in mid-2015.

Thai was born in 1967 and holds a master’s degree of electronic and telecommunication engineering. He started working at VNPT Hanoi in 1992. He previously held many important positions at many units of VNPT Hanoi. In 2012, he was appointed deputy director of VNPT Hanoi and director of this firm in October 2013.

Many current officials of VNPT previously worked at VNPT Hanoi. Mr. Tran Manh Hung, former general director of VNPT and the current chairman of this group, was director of VNPT Hanoi for eight years.

VNPT - Vinaphone was established in mid-2015 after VNPT completed the first phase of restructuring. The charter capital of Vinaphone is VND5.2 trillion (over $200 million). Its core businesses include telecommunication services, information technology, broadcasting services, multimedia communications.

VinaPhone targets to earn VND26 trillion of revenue by 2020, profit before tax of VND3.3 trillion, and average annual growth rate of 49% a year, accounting for 30% of the market for mobile services and over 80% of the market for broadband services.
