Last year, Vinh Airport served 1.25 million passengers. Its average growth rate in the past 13 years was 43.9%, the highest level in the country.

According to overall planning for Vinh Airport, which was approved by the Ministry of Transport in 2006 and was adjusted in 2011, the airport would welcome 2.5 million passengers in 2025.

However, based on statistics in recent years, the number of passengers using the airport would reach 2.5 million in 2020 and up to 7 million in 2030.

Vietnam currently has 12 domestic airports and 10 international airports but only four serve international flights, Tan Son Nhat (Ho Chi Minh City), Noi Bai (Hanoi), Danang (Danang city) and Cam Ranh (Nha Trang city).
