After a period of time laying an ambush, in late June, the police of Vinh City caught in act a group of four men trapping cats. Nguyen Duc Dung, Hoang Xuan Hieu (both 32 years old), Nguyen Van Tung (20 years old) and Tran Van Long (14 years old) were arrested on the way home after catching four cats.

At the investigation agency, Dung confessed that he was the team leader and he had trapped cats for more than two years. This gang caught 5-6 cats per night and they sold the animals at the Market of Vinh City at the price of VND60,000 ($3) per kilo.

Dung and his accomplices used plastic tubes, bicycle brake wires and sea fish to trap cats in residential areas.

From the report of many local people, the authorities are determined that this is a group of professional cat thieves, who caught thousands of cats in the area.

Two of the four men are former convicts.
