VietNamNet Bridge – According to the Police Agency of Vinh Long province, Nguyen To Tranh, former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long Province has been prosecuted for "intentionally breaking the State provisions" and "irresponsibility causing serious consequences."

Earlier, VietNamNet reported that on October 1, Tranh was suspended from the position of the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to serve investigation.

Related to this case, the police has prosecuted and arrested Bui Huu Tri (born 1979), an employee of Vinh Long Province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism who is in charge of construction, for “taking bribe"; Pham Tien Ngo, Director of a private construction company based in Vinh Long for “giving bribe”; and Tran Le Dong (born 1979), chief accountant for embezzlement.

According to investigators, these defendants were in collusion with each other to embezzle state money from the project to build the memorial house of Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet in Vung Liem District.

Tri and Ngo were accused of taking advantage of their positions and powers to embezzle 10% of the value of the project.

These defendants also involved in other cultural projects.
