Phuong Nhi was born into a musical family. Her parents are both violinists at the Viet Nam National Academy of Music.
She began studying violin at the age of four. At the age of eleven she made her solo debut with Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Vietnamese National Symphony Orchestra at the Hanoi Opera House.
She is currently studying at the Barratt-Due Music Institute in Oslo where she is a student of Stephan Barratt-Due and Alf Richard Kraggerud.
Phuong Nhi performed at 2011 and 2013 Toyota Concert Tour, accompanied by the Vietnamese National Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Tetsuji-Honna.
In 2015, Phuong Nhi won first prize at the “Sparre Olsen” competition for young talents in Gjøvik, Norway.
As an active soloist, Nhi has been invited to play with several major national and international orchestras, including the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Hanoi String Chamber Orchestra, Forsvarets-Musikk, Orchestra Symphony of Romerike, TrondheimSolistene in Norway and the Fort Collins Symphony Orchestra in the United States.
