For the first time, the public is able to experience commando-style camouflage, drive a windshield-free vehicle on the Truong Son trail, and interact with robot dogs at the exhibition celebrating 80 years of national achievements.
The exhibition “National achievements: 80 years of independence - freedom - happiness” is being held from August 28 to September 5 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center in Dong Anh district, Hanoi. The event features 230 booths over nearly 260,000 square meters.
The “80 years of independence - freedom - happiness” exhibition runs from August 28 to September 5 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center in Dong Anh, Hanoi.The exhibition showcases products and images from 34 provinces and cities, 28 ministries, and notable private and state-owned enterprises. Among the attractions is a VinMotion robot capable of interacting with visitors and answering questions.At the Ministry of Public Security's booth, a robot dog captivated both adults and children by dancing and posing in various entertaining ways.At the Ministry of National Defense booth, Viettel unveiled its VSR01 security patrol robot to the public for the first time. This smart robot, designed for use in industrial parks, residential areas, factories, and key infrastructure zones, is currently being tested at internal facilities. It can operate continuously in all weather conditions, move autonomously, detect incidents, and issue timely alerts using AI and advanced sensors.The exhibition also features domestically produced military equipment, such as the 7.62mm SBT7MK4 sniper rifle, which is 1.16 meters long, weighs 4.3 kilograms, and has an effective range of 460 meters. This model is manufactured by the General Department of Defense Industry.Another standout display is a metro train model by Truong Hai Group. In February 2025, Chairman Tran Ba Duong announced that THACO would invest in urban rail systems, focusing on rolling stock and steel components, with plans to localize production and transfer technology.Visitors can also view the Lac Hong 900 LX, a limited-edition luxury vehicle reserved for transporting international dignitaries during the 80th National Day celebrations. Two versions are available: standard (as pictured) and bulletproof.The Ministry of National Defense's booth drew large crowds, particularly to its virtual reality experiences. Attendees could simulate historic scenes such as driving a windshield-free truck on the Truong Son trail, and participating in the Dien Bien Phu and Ho Chi Minh campaigns using 360-degree VR headsets.Despite the hot weather, long queues formed outdoors as many young people eagerly waited to try on commando camouflage gear.The outdoor exhibition area displayed a variety of military hardware from the Ministry of National Defense. Featured were six 37mm automatic anti-aircraft guns capable of engaging targets up to 3 kilometers in the air and 4 kilometers on the ground, with a maximum range of 6.7 kilometers and firing rates of 80 to 120 rounds per minute.Also on display was the Kh-31A (UD) air-to-ship missile, designed to target destroyers operating solo or in groups, regardless of weather conditions or time of day.Vietnamese-developed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were another highlight. These multi-role long-range drones can conduct real-time surveillance, electronic reconnaissance, communication relay, and precision strikes. They are equipped to operate across various terrains, including inland, border, marine, and island areas, under complex weather conditions. The UAVs have a wingspan of 17 meters, a length of 8.5 meters, a flight ceiling of 10 kilometers, and can fly continuously for over 24 hours. They cruise at speeds between 140-180 km/h, with a maximum speed of 200 km/h. The UAVs can carry up to 500 kilograms and have a maximum takeoff weight of 1,500 kilograms.In addition, a model of a modern aircraft was displayed to highlight Vietnam’s growing capacity to operate advanced aviation technologies.
