Vietnamese defenders and goalkeeper Kieu Trinh put up a fierce defence against Australian strikers until full time.

Australia is now poised to enter the semifinals with nine points after three match wins, while the result left Viet Nam with eight points after three matches; claiming second place in Pool A.

In a simultaneous match, Thailand emerged victorious against Malaysia with a massive 6-0 lead. However, the outstanding victory was not enough to clinch a spot in the semi-finals, with the team bowing out on seven points.

Viet Nam will likely face off with Japan's U-23 team on September 20. Japan currently leads Pool B on six points after two matches.
