Thuy will introduce her art projects inspired by Vietnamese ancient ceramic, including the Ceramic Road along the Hong River dyke in Ha Noi, a huge flag made of ceramic on the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands, as well as General Vo Nguyen Giap Park on the same archipelago.

The art week will involve various activities in Berlin, such as exhibitions, workshops, art tours, film screenings and art fairs. Both private collections and public art spaces will be exhibited during the week.

At the event, many foreign artists will express their willingness to join the rest of the Ceramic Road project decorating the dyke linking Au Co Road with Nhat Tan Bridge.

The works have been selected from 230 entries sent to the first contest of its kind hosted by the Ha Noi University of Fine Arts.

Organised under the theme “Viet Nam – Country and People”, the works were divided into the three categories of painting, sculpture and graphics.

“Through the contest, we can judge the real capabilities of students at art institutions during the past few years,” said Le Dinh Tan, head of the Culture Ministry’s Training Department.

“Some of the works are quite good in quality and ideas.”

The short-listed works are displayed at the university at 42 Yet Kieu Street, till September 29.
