Representatives from relevant ministries, sectors and seven northern mountainous provinces sharing borders with China attended the conference and presented reports. Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the National Border Committee Ho Xuan Son also highlighted future tasks for border management.

Khiem, who heads the State Steering Board for Border Demarcation, praised the historical significance of successfully demarcating the Viet Nam-China land border.

He called on ministries, sectors and local authorities to work in close co-operation in implementing documents regarding the Viet Nam-China land border following the Prime Minister's instruction on July 27, 2010.

Khiem called on both the Vietnamese and Chinese sides to co-operate in effective border management through a joint border committee. He also urged northern border provinces to boost international co-operation in order to develop local economies.
