VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam, Laos and Cambodia have agreed to increase their co-operation in the fight against drugs during a two-day meeting that ended in Vientiane yesterday, Nov 16.

The 11th Trilateral/Bilateral Ministerial Meeting on Drugs Control Co-operation reviewed the drug situation in each country and the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the three countries at the 10th Meeting in Cambodia.

Participants discussed measures to further strengthen information exchange and to control drug trafficking in border areas.

The meeting highlighted the significance of national governments and international organisations in raising public awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.

It also called upon the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNOCD) to provide financial and technical support to the effort.
