Colonel Pham Kim Hau, Vice Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, said the 10th joint patrol took place on April 20-23, with the participation of the High Command of Region 1 under the Vietnam Coast Guard forces and the Hainan Marine Police, with two ships coded 45102 and 3411.
Colonel Tran Van Hau, Vice Chief Commissar of the Vietnam Coast Guard, said the joint patrol aims to contribute to maintaining an environment of peace and stability in the Tonkin Gulf; strengthen the solidarity of the countries sharing interests in the East Sea; and provide fishermen as regulated under the provisions of the Agreement on Fisheries Cooperation in the Tonkin Gulf signed by Vietnam and China in 2000.
In addition to joint patrols, the coast guard forces of the two sides have set up a hotline to regularly exchange information and solve specific matters.
The Agreement on Fisheries Cooperation in the Gulf of Tonkin was signed by Vietnam and China on December 25, 2000 to conserve and sustainably exploit marine resources, and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in fisheries in the Gulf of Tonkin.
