On November 20, persistent flooding in Khanh Hoa Province worsened significantly, with water levels rising rapidly and submerging wide areas - posing grave threats to lives and property.

From the night of November 18 through the morning of November 19, heavy rains combined with spillover from local reservoirs inundated large swaths of Dien Dien, Dien Khanh, Khanh Vinh districts and Tay Nha Trang Ward. Entire neighborhoods were cut off, severely disrupting residents’ lives.

Faced with this emergency, Vietnam’s military mobilized over 400 troops from elite units. From the night of November 19 until dawn the next day, Water Commando Brigade 5, Naval Region 4, and the Naval Academy rushed to flood hotspots in Khanh Hoa to carry out urgent rescue operations.

At 11:00 PM, Water Commando Brigade 5 arrived in Dien Khanh with nearly 100 personnel, 5 Kamaz trucks, 4 rescue boats, and specialized equipment. Despite harsh conditions, troops coordinated with local authorities to rescue residents from deep flood zones, minimizing risk and ensuring safety.

Naval Region 4 and the Naval Academy deployed over 300 officers and soldiers, along with emergency gear and essential supplies.

They immediately reached high-risk areas such as Suoi Hiep Commune, Tay Nha Trang Ward, Cam Lam and Cam Hiep Communes, and Suoi Dau area.

Working closely with local officials, the forces conducted mass evacuations and property protection operations.

At 3:00 AM on November 20, navy teams successfully rescued nine residents stranded in Cuu Loi 3 Hamlet, Cam Lam Commune, safely relocating them out of danger.

In recent days, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command also mobilized over 2,230 troops, including local militia, in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, Military Region 5, and rapid-response units.

Their efforts focused on evacuating residents from high-risk zones, repairing landslides at Khanh Le and Khanh Son passes, and delivering food to isolated communities.

Emergency teams also set up roadblocks and safety posts in strategic locations to prevent food shortages and reduce the risks posed by flooding and landslides.
