VN dominates Asian Pencak Silak champs with 13 golds

Viet Nam finished top at the second Asian Pencak Silat Championship which closed at the Bedok Sports Hall in Singapore on Sunday.

The team bagged 13 gold, six silver and four bronze medals.

Singapore came second with eight golds, followed by Thailand who secured two golds.

The tournament, first held in 2011, featured 12 delegations competing from June 3-6.

Viet Nam win SEA Karatedo competition

Viet Nam finished first at the Southeast Asian Karatedo Federation Championships which wrapped up in Malaysia on Sunday.

The team secured 14 gold, eight silver and 11 bronze medals. Hosts Malaysia finished as runners-up with eight golds, five silvers and 15 bronzes.

Ho Thi Thu Hien of the central province of Ha Tinh contributed two golds in the women’s 68kg and women’s team category.

The competition, which began on June 2, attracted more than 200 athletes in the region.

At the same event held in Laos last year, the Vietnamese team also won with 12 golds, four silvers and nine bronzes.

HCM City triumph at national martial arts event

HCM City triumphed at the National Traditional Martial Arts Championships, which ended at the Ha Noi Athletics Palace on June 4.

The team took the lead with 11 gold, nine silver and three bronze medals. Binh Dinh finished second with nine gold, six silver and five bronze medals. The Police were third with six gold, one silver and eight bronze medals.

The seven-day tournament attracted the participation of more than 200 martial artists from 25 cites and provinces nationwide, such as An Giang, Bac Ninh, Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc, as well as Thanh Hoa and Vinh Long, competing for 48 sets of medals.
