VietNamNet Bridge – Photos and lyrics about Vietnam during the Vietnam War by Miro Tuleja, Slovakian journalist and photographer, will be on display at the “Memory of the Future” exhibition, which will open at 16 Ly Thuong Kiet, Hanoi on November 4.
Miro Tuleja worked as a front-line correspondent for the Army newspaper Obrana lidu (Defense of the People) and brought authentic stories about the Vietnamese struggle in the American War during 1970-1973.
After the signing of the Paris Convention in 1973, he organized an exhibition of his photos about Vietnam entitled Život sa začína znova (The Life Begins Again) in the cities of Prague, Bratislava, Teplice, Litomyšl, Košice, and Michalovce to introduce the Czech and Slovak people to the spontaneous joy of the Vietnamese (people) from the early days of peace and their efforts to restore the war-devastated country as fast as possible.
In October 1973, during his official visit to Czechoslovakia, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Van Dong visited the exhibition and highly appreciated it.
Miro Tuleja’s photographs from Vietnam were given the special visitors award at the Inter Press Photo show in Berlin in 1974.
In 2013, he compiled a photo book called Vietnam – Memories of the Future. He has also prepared a project of his return to the places where the pictures were taken 40 years ago.
Miro Tuleja’s photos and lyrics will be displayed at the exhibition called “Vietnam – Memories of the Future” in Hanoi in early November.
The exhibition is held on the occasion of the upcoming visit of Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Slovakia Miroslav Lajcak.
