Dung said the meeting has been scheduled for February 9, during which the two sides will discuss the establishment of a football academy run by Manchester City in Vietnam.

They will also talk about other issues, such as PR and marketing, brand name development and the scale of the training centre for young players.

The plan is part of a US$2 billion project, in which Manchester City will invest, and through which it plans to encourage youth to play football globally.

According to the VFF chairman, the English team has seen its Vietnamese fans triple in the last three years.

Two years ago Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany had visited the country and taken part in various charity activities.
