South Korea defeated Viet Nam 3-0 on Monday in the second group match of the Asian Football Confederation's U16 Women's Championship 2015 qualifier.

It took the Koreans 31 minutes to score the first goal at the Hang Jebat Stadium, with the contribution of midfielder Park Hye-jeong.

Another midfielder Yang Hyeon-ji then scored just two minutes before the end of the first half.

Substitute Yang Seo-yeong, who came in the 52nd minute, scored the third and final goal.

It is the second victory of the Koreans, and the second defeat of Viet Nam.

In a Group C match, Australia beat Hong Kong 10-0 at the Hang Jebat Stadium. Australia will play Korea on Thursday to decide the group winner that will play in the eight-team-strong finals to be held in China next year.

Viet Nam will face Hong Kong in the last group match. Both sides have already been disqualified from this qualifier.

VTV to broadcast U19 Vietnam matches in Asia

Vietnam Television (VTV) has announced it will broadcast live all matches of the Vietnam U19 football squad in the U19 Asian Football Championship (AFC) 2014 scheduled from October 9-23 in Myanmar on channels VTV2, VTV6 and VTV6 HD.

VTV will also air a series of sports commentary programmes before, during and after the game. In Group C, Vietnam is set to square off in the qualifying round with strong rivals from the Republic of Korea on October 9, Japan on October 11 and China two days later.

Competition for the quarter-final, semi-final and final rounds is scheduled for October 17, 20 and 23, respectively.

Winning a medal at the U19 AFC Championship 2014 is the first step towards securing a playoff at the 2015 U20 World Cup to be held in New Zealand.

Injured Trieu to miss game against South Korea

A thigh injury will prevent Tran Huu Dong Trieu from playing in the opening match of the Asian Football Confederation U19 Championship between Viet Nam and South Korea tomorrow.

The Vietnamese midfielder has yet to fully recover from the injury he sustained while training in HCM City last week.

Coach Guillaume Graechen said the injury was not serious, but it would be too dangerous for him to play as even minor contact with other players would make it worse.

The absence of Trieu, a key member of the team and the top choice of the coaching staff, will leave a hole in Viet Nam's defence.

Graechen revealed that Tran Anh Thi would take his place.

Vietnamese women lose in AFC U16

Viet Nam lost to Australia, 0-6, in their opening game at the Asian Football Confederation U16 Women's Championship qualifying round in Malaysia on Saturday.

In the other Group C match, South Korea, the 2009 champion, scored an emphatic double-figure victory over Hong Kong, 11-0. Today Australia take on Hong Kong and South Korea play Viet Nam. A total of 19 participants in the qualifying round were divided into four groups. The winners of each group will advance to the finals to be organised in China in November next year.
