The game was held in Ha Nam gymnasium in the northern province of Ha Nam.

Vietnam won the first set 25-19 by playing flexibly. But Kazakhstan fought back strongly in the second set. With the advantage of height and physical strength, they won 25-19.

Vietnamese head coach Phung Cong Hung changed his tactics and players to regain control of the game. However, the defence line made errors, causing Kazakhstan to win the third set 25-20.

In the decisive set, Kazakhstan scored points continuously to beat Vietnam 25-19.

With this loss, Vietnam will face arch rival Thailand in the semi-final, while Indonesia will meet Kazakhstan in the other semi-final match.

Six teams, including Indonesia, Myanmar and Thailand, are competing for a total cash prize of US$40,000. The champions will be awarded $15,000.

The tournament will conclude on May 31.
