VietNamNet Bridge - While many actors of South Korea, Thailand, and India have flocked to Vietnam to promote their films and meet with Vietnamese fans, Vietnam’s movie stars have little chance to do the same.

Most recently, Avika Gor, the leading actress staring in Indian series “8-year-old bride", came to HCM City to participate in charitable activities and meet with Vietnamese fans. She was warmly welcomed by the local media and fans.

After Avika Gor, four Indian actors: Siddharth Shukla, Avinash Mukherjee, Roop Durgapal and Aasiya Kazi - will visit Vietnam in July.

Previously, Thai and Korean actors had visited Vietnam to see Vietnamese audiences, such as Mario Maurer, who is best known in Vietnam for the film "Pee Mak" and Golf Pichaya, who starred in Thai series "Love has no fault, the fault belongs to your close friend".

Mario Maurer has a large number of Vietnamese fans. Whenever he goes to Vietnam, he is welcomed at the airport and by many activities of fans.

Visits to Vietnam by Korean celebrities and the crazy welcome of Vietnamese is no longer new in Vietnam.

Particularly with the "stars" Korea, Vietnam on them to perform, promote products ... and receive a"crazy"welcome from the audience is no longer a new thing.

Vietnam has become the destination of Asian movie stars while Vietnamese actors have little opportunity to do the same. This is a disadvantage, especially for talented actors.

Explaining this situation, local movie producers said that it is very difficult to export Vietnamese films. Once producers cannot sell their movies abroad, they can not afford to bring actors overseas for marketing.

So far, only several large-screen movies of Vietnam have been sold to foreign distributors, mainly to serve the community of overseas Vietnamese. Accordingly, some meetings between Vietnamese actors and overseas Vietnamese were held.

Movie director Tuong Phuong said that Vietnamese films are not attractive enough to lure regional audience so Vietnamese actors don’t have overseas audience to meet.

Actress Ngoc Anh said: "Vietnamese movies have not been introduced abroad much so Vietnamese actors are not invited by foreign TV channels to their countries to meet with local audience. Meanwhile, Vietnam buys a lot of films from India, Thailand and Korea and these films are welcomed by Vietnamese audience so their actors come to Vietnam... for exchanges. This is a sad thing for Vietnamese actors".

Actress Ngoc Lan said organizing overseas exchanges between actors and the audience is the job of film producers. "I'm not sad because this is a common situation. I'm just trying to act well to create good products to serve the audience," she said.

Actress Trinh Kim Chi also said that the spread of Vietnamese films cannot compare to that of other countries in the region.

Cooperation

The Vietnamese movie industry is younger than that of other countries in the region but it has also produced many films and created a generation of “idols” like Viet Trinh, Ly Hung, Diem Huong ...

Previously, Vietnam partnered with Hong Kong and some Asian countries to produce films that were appreciated in the region. At present, it is difficult for even building “movie idols” in the domestic market.

Director Nham Minh Hien said during the golden time of Viet Trinh, Ly Hung and Diem Huong, Vietnamese audience did not have a chance to watch many foreign movies. Vietnamese movies were their only choice. Today, in the Internet and globalization age, they can watch everything they want.

Playwright Chau Tho, director of Sena Film, said investment in television series in Vietnam is much lower compared with other countries in the region.

"For now, we should strengthen cooperation with other countries to produce quality films for release in both countries and then Vietnamese actors will have the opportunity to go to the partner country for exchange with local audiences," he said.

Vietnamese producers recently cooperated with Korean partners to produce sitcoms like "Love flower basket,""The smell of coriander", "The partner,""The song of the sun" and most recently "Adolescence".

Currently the second part of “Adolescence” is being filmed in Korea. After the first part was aired, Korean actor Kang Tae Oh went to Vietnam to see Vietnamese audience and Vietnamese actress Nha Phuong was invited to Korea.

Recently, Lasta, a private studio, brought Vietnamese actors as Nhu Phuc, Diem Thuy, Luong The Thanh, Thanh Thuc, and Bang Di to Myanmar to attend the press conference to launch Vietnamese TV series in Myanmar.

Lasta studio has become the first Vietnamese producer selling films to Myanmar, including “Nghieng Nghieng Dong Nuoc,""Tra Gia," and "Suong Khoi Dong Hoang".

Tran Minh Tien, General Director of Lasta Film Company, said the company will keep introducing Vietnamese films to Myanmar.
