VietNamNet Bridge – Police have apprehended several people across the country for illegal possession and transportation of drugs over the past few days.

Early on Tuesday, the Moc Chau District police from the northern mountainous province of Son La caught a man transporting 32,000 tablets of ecstasy. Widening their investigation, officials also seized three of his accomplices.
The four accused - Phang A Vu, 25, Phang A Thai, 27, Phang A Phua, 21, and Mua A Chong, 28 - are all residents of the province’s Van Ho District.
On the same day, in the central province of Thanh Hoa, the Ngoc Lac District police caught Loc Van Dinh, 48, with more than 600g of heroin and 2.4kg of other drugs in Quan Son District.
A few days earlier, on Sunday, the Lang Son Province police caught a man with almost 7kg of heroin. Ca Van Thuan, 26, admitted that he had been hired to transport the heroin from Thai Nguyen to Lang Son Province for a payment of VND50 million (US$2,200).
Meanwhile, courts continue to take a hard line with drug offenders. On Tuesday, the HCM City People’s Court sentenced Hoang Thi Loan, 40, from the northern city of Hai Phong, and Pham Van Hoang, 33, from the northern province of Thai Binh, to death for illegal transportation of drugs.
On June 9, 2014, Hoang landed at the Tan Son Nhat International Airport with a box. Loan arrived at the terminal to meet Hoang, and the duo were caught red-handed as the box changed hands. It contained 2kg of crystal methamphetamine and around 20,000 tablets of ecstasy. Hoang confessed that he and Loan had got acquainted in the prison in Thanh Hoa Province, and that after release, they had set up a drug transportation ring.
