The requirement was declared after recent reports that cars were using number plates that don’t match their registration documents, or number plates not been issued by competent organisations.
The violation affected traffic order and social security, the department said.
The inspection on fake number plates is the main duty for traffic police before, during and after the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, which will occur next month.
The department will also establish inspection teams to check cars in big cities. — VNS
Among the traffic safety violations recorded between July 15 and 29, as many as 11,597 drivers nationwide were caught driving without a license or with a fake one, according to statistics from the Traffic Police Department.
Traffic police have kick-started a nationwide campaign to inspect coaches, passenger cars, container trucks and motorbikes in an effort to prevent serious accidents.
