The Belarusian PM said the exchange of visits by senior officials over the past time has created a firm foundation for the two countries to strengthen bilateral cooperative ties.
He described Vietnam as a friend and strategic partner of Belarus in Southeast Asia as the country’s socio-economic development strategies are completely compatible and similar to those of Belarus such as technological reform and high-tech development.
The PM thanked Vietnam for always supporting his country’s initiatives at the global arena and the United Nations, adding that the two sides share similar viewpoints on international issues.
He suggested the two countries seek new cooperation orientations to boost economic and trade partnership and proposed Vietnam grant licenses for Belarus to export meat, milk and agricultural products to the Southeast Asian market.
The PM recommended promoting cooperation in automobile manufacturing. Belarus has experience and high technology in this field, and it had inaugurated a joint venture producing trucks in Vietnam in September 2019. The Belarusian Government is now creating the best conditions for this joint venture’s activities, and hopes the Vietnamese counterpart will do the same, he added.
Belarus is also willing to assist Vietnam with training scientists in machinery and high technology, according to the PM.
NA Chairwoman Ngan extended the best regards and invitation from Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc to the Belarusian PM to pay an official visit to Vietnam.
She said Vietnam always attaches great importance to traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Belarus.
The top legislator thanked Belarusian people for their valuable support for Vietnam in the past national liberation and reunification, as well as the current construction and development.
She suggested the two sides cooperate in such potential fields as farm produce processing, agricultural machines, and automobile assembly and production, adding that Vietnam is willing to create all favourable conditions for the operation of Maz Asia, the first automobile joint venture inaugurated in the northern province of Hung Yen in September this year.
Vietnam welcomes Belarusian businesses to invest in the country and will facilitate their long-term and stable investment, Ngan stressed.
Pointing out that bilateral trade was only 92.2 million USD last year, she said the two sides need to work out measures to do away with the current difficulties and look for cooperation chances so as to bring it to 500 million USD in the years to come. Besides, they should also continue perfecting the legal basis to boost bilateral trade and investment, as well as implement the agreements signed and look for new cooperation fields.
The top legislator expressed her hope that Belarus will facilitate Vietnam in increasing the export of its traditional products to the European country. She also asked the two sides to maintain their regular cultural exchanges and boost up bilateral cooperation in science and technology.
Vietnam hopes Belarus to further facilitate the entry and exit by Vietnamese citizens, she said and thanked the Belarusian leader for creating favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the host country.
Ngan also expressed her hope that PM Rumas and his government will continue supporting the stance of Vietnam and ASEAN in settling disputes by peaceful means.
The host leader, for his part, said Vietnam’s current approach in boosting bilateral economic relations and trade is right, adding Belarus will create every condition for its firms to come to Vietnam.
At the meeting, the two sides also exchanged ideas on a number of issues of mutual concern./.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had a meeting with First Secretary of the Communist Party of Belarus Sokol A.N and other leaders of the party in Minsk on December 13 as part of her official visit to the country.
The Vietnamese NA leader informed her hosts of her official visit to Belarus. The high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese legislature held talks with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko and Chairwoman of the Council of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, and had meetings with President Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Sergey Nikolayevich Rumas.
Leaders of the two sides exchanged views on optimising the advantages that the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union brings about to enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation. They also discussed measures to promote bilateral cooperation in specific fields, striving to lift two-way trade to 500 million USD per year.
NA Chairwoman Ngan shared that, before this meeting, she had a touching meeting with veterans who had fought in Vietnam, which recalled Belarus’s solidarity and multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam. She affirmed that the Vietnamese people will never forget the great support and valuable assistance that the Communist Party of Belarus has given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification as well as the building and development of the country today. She noted with pleasure that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus has been constantly strengthened and developed in recent years.
The top Vietnamese legislator appreciated the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Belarus. The two sides regularly exchanged congratulatory messages and had meetings and working sessions, she said, expressing her wish that the relations between the two Communist Parties will thrive in the time to come, with the maintainance of exchange and consultation mechanisms and delegation exchange activities.
Ngan asked the two sides further increase delegation exchanges and contacts; frequently share information, theory and experience in Party building; and closely coordinate at multilateral political parties’ forums.
Briefing on the socio-economic situation of Vietnam over the past time, she said the country has maintained a high GDP growth rate, at 6.8 percent in 2017, 7.08 percent in 2018 and an estimated of 6.8 percent this year. Vietnam currently has nearly 100 million people with more than 4 million Party members.
For his part, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Belarus Sokol A.N said that he was impressed with the growth rate of Vietnam in recent years. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the country has gained important achievements. He expressed his belief that the economic growth of Vietnam will continue to increase in the future.
He said he hopes that Belarus and Vietnam will fulfill their target of raising two-way trade to 500 million USD per year. Currently, Belarusian products are of Vietnam’s interest while Vietnamese goods are also favoured by the Belarusian people, he added.
Sokol A.N said that the solidarity between the people of the two countries and between the Communist Party of Belarus and the Communist Party of Vietnam will contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Belarus-Vietnam.
The same day, NA Chairwoman Ngan had a meeting with the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus and representatives of the Vietnamese community here./.

Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said on December 13 that Vietnam always treasures and is grateful for the great support rendered by Belarus during the country’s struggle for national liberation and reunification in the past.
She made the statement while meeting with Belarusian veterans who were sent to Vietnam to help the country fight for independence and freedom, and representatives from the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Vietnam - Belarus Friendship Association.
She expressed her sentiment over the Belarusian veterans’ love and memories in Vietnam, saying she would ask the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs to invite the veterans to visit the locations where they stood shoulder-by-shoulder with the Vietnamese people during war time to see how the country has changed since then.
She wished that the veterans will continue serving as a bridge for the traditional friendship between the two countries' people.
At the event, NA Chairwoman Ngan highlighted the outcomes of her meetings and talks with Belarusian leaders, including Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vladimir Andreichenko, Chairwoman of the Council of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, President Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Sergey Nikolayevich Rumas, while briefing Vietnam’s socio-economic development and global integration achievements in recent time.
The top Vietnamese legislator laid stress on the fruitful traditional friendship between Vietnam and Belarus with sound cooperation and high political trust in the past years, underlining both countries have supported each other at international forums and multilateral mechanisms such as the United Nations.
President of the Belarusian Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries Nina Semionovna Ivanova, for her part, said that Vietnam and Belarus have special relations were highlighted at all the talks and meetings between the top Vietnamese legislator and Belarusian leaders.
The Belarusian people will be always a trustworthy friend of Vietnam, and will work to tighten the friendship with the Southeast Asian country, she added.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Vietnam - Belarus Friendship Association and Chairman of the Belarusian Veterans in Vietnam Association Mikhail Sergeevich believed that NA Chairwoman Ngan’s official visit to Belarus will make significant contributions to further developing the multifaceted cooperation as well as consolidating the friendship between the two nations.
During 1965 - 1972, 205 Belarusian military personnel and experts were sent to Vietnam, helping the nation fight for independence and reunification, he said, adding the friendship and veteran associations have joined hands with the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus to organise a wide range of activities to promote mutual understanding and respect between the two countries' people./.VNA
