Vietnamese and US travel companies are set to sign an agreement to boost tourism co-operation.
Vu The Binh, deputy chairman of the Viet Nam Tourism Association, said it has taken the two sides a few years of preparations to reach the stage of signing the agreement.
A deputy president of the American Society of Travel Agents and executives from 15 travel agencies will come to Hanoi in early April for the Viet Nam International Travel Mart where the agreement would be signed, he said.
The agreement is expected to increase the number of tourists visiting each other’s countries, he said.
Figures from the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism show that more than 552,000 Americans came to Viet Nam last year, a year-on-year increase of 12.5 per cent.
They accounted for over 5 per cent of all international visitors coming to the country.
