Phuong takes gold in canoeing
Truong Thi Phuong won a gold medal at the 2015 Asian Canoeing Championships in Indonesia on November 5, becoming the first-ever Vietnamese competitor to win it.
Phuong, who is only 16 years old, took the lead in the women's C1-500m category.
At the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in June, the girl won the first gold medal for Viet Nam in canoeing in the C1-200m event.
Earlier, Vu Thi Linh and Do Thi Thanh Thao ranked seventh out of 14 teams in the women's K2-500m event, ahead of the Singapore duo who won the gold medal at the 28th SEA Games.
About 500 participants from 27 countries are competing at Lake Jakabaring Sport City, Palembang.
Viet Nam has sent five participants to the tournament which will end on Sunday.
Juniors pocket medal at Asian champs
Viet Nam won one gold, one silver and two bronzes at the 2015 Asian Junior Finswimming Competition in Chinese Taipei on Thursday.
The gold medal went to Le Thi Thu in the girls' 100m surface (diving with a snorkel) with a time of 43.63sec. Seo Naun and Oh Hyeyeong of South Korea finished second and third.
Tran Thi Trang Diem won a silver medal in the girls' 400m surface after clocking a time of 3:27.67. Yun Ahhyun of South Korea bagged gold with a time of 3:24.08, and Ahhyun's teammate Baek Seohyun took bronze.
The event, which will run until November 9.
VN win another Asia shooting bronze
Viet Nam won anothere bronze medal at the Asian Shooting Championships in Kuwait on Thursday.
The squad came third in the men's team 10m air pistol event with 1,729 points. China took gold medal with 1,748 points, while South Korea received silver with 1,744 points.
Earlier, Viet Nam won a bronze in the 10m air rifle women's junior event.
In the men's individual 10m air pistol, Hoang Xuan Vinh ranked fourth with 158.1 points. The gold medal went to South Korean Jin Jongoh who was followed by China's Pang Wei and Pu Qifeng.
Thirteen Vietnamese marksmen are taking part in the competition which will run until November 11.
