VND200 million for National Super Cup winners

Reigning V-League champions Becamex Binh Duong and National Cup winners Vicem Hai Phong will face off at Go Dau Stadium in Binh Duong province on December 27 to contest the 2014 Vietnamese Super Cup, with Binh Duong hoping to snatch their third trophy in history.

As regulated, the two teams will play 90 minutes, and a penalty shootout will be held in case the match ends up in a draw. The trophy and VND200 million will be awarded to the winners, while the other team will receive VND100 million.

Binh Duong claimed the 2014 V-League title in a convincing fashion, scoring 48 points after 21 matches and becoming the first team to win the national championship three times.

The December 27 clash will be a good chance for the defending V-League champions to revenge their 0-2 loss to Vicem Hai Phong in the National Cup final.

The Super Cup match has been held annually since 1999 between the V-League champions and the National Cup winners, with 10 football clubs having been crowned. Song Lam Nghe An were the most successful lifting the trophy four times (including three consecutive times from 2001 to 2003), followed by Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Becamex Binh Duong as two-time winners.
