VietNamNet – On behalf of the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has signed a decision approving the project planning to improve and build cultural constructions, including theatres, cinemas and culture and art exhibition houses in the 2012-2020 period.

Total investment for the project is VND10,800 billion, including VND6,500 billion from the state budget, and the rest from other mobilization sources.

The project aims to complete the system of cultural works in order to meet the demand of the people in cultural and spiritual life, especially in remote and disadvantaged areas; gradually building several great cultural works in major cities, in association with the preservation and promotion of national cultural identities and meeting the demand of international integration.

Accordingly, two cinema centres with the scale of 1,500 seats and eight to ten showing rooms will be built in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. These two centres will meet the requirements to host domestic and international film festivals.

55 cinemas with two to six showing rooms will be built in provinces and cities nationwide, while 49 cinemas will be upgraded.

The project also mentions investment in equipment for mobile cinemas, performance costumes, equipment for cultural houses in districts, islands and remote areas, and supporting equipment for private exhibition houses in 13 provinces and cities.
