The victim was Mr. Nguyen Huu Hai, 43 years old, residing in Phong Dien district, the owner of Chuan Ngoc Gold Standard in Phong Dien market.

According to the victim, the robbery occurred at about 7pm on May 5. After a day of business, he collected all the gold in the shop, put in a bag and hung the bag on his motorbike then drove home.

The total assets that were robbed include 17 taels of jewelry gold, 6 taels of pure gold, 60 jade bracelets, 3 gem necklaces, 10 pearl necklaces, a lot of silver rings and necklaces and VND330 million ($16,000) in cash, totaling more than VND1.3 billion.

Just 150m from his gold shop, two men riding a motorbike from behind got close to Hai’s vehicle. The one sitting behind yanked Hai’s bag.

The victim shouted "robber, robber," but after taking the bag, the two robbers rode quickly toward Hue city.

According to some witnesses, the robbers drove a black motorbike labeled Exciter but they did not clearly see the license plate.

After examining the crime scene, local police are urgently hunting the two robbers.
