The project scheduled to be carried out in the 2024-2027 period will focus on building 19 kilometres of the western sea dyke route running from the Cai Doi Vam area to Nam Canal. It will also deal with erosion from Ong Doc in Tran Van Thoi District to Bay Hap in Phu Tan District and develop around 2,000 hectares of protective forest.
The project will connect the western dyke route and the coastal road network, creating conditions for socio-economic, tourism and service development. Furthermore, it will help support the transition to sustainable livelihoods for people in five coastal communes of Phu Tan District.
Ca Mau has 105 of its 254 kilometres of coastline facing erosion. According to the latest report from the Ca Mau People’s Committee, the erosion has affected 33 kilometres of the western coast and 72 kilometres of the eastern coast.
