On December 18, during its 2026 Strategic Planning Conference, VNPT officially introduced VNPT AI, a new subsidiary dedicated to artificial intelligence development. The move aligns with Vietnam’s evolving legal framework for AI and reflects VNPT’s long-term technological strategy.

Over the past years, VNPT has systematically invested in critical infrastructure, including a 20-petabyte big data system, capabilities to process nearly 20 terabytes of data daily, and a high-performance computing ecosystem scalable to hundreds of petaflops. These foundational assets will enable VNPT AI to develop large-scale AI models suitable for nationwide deployment.

Beyond infrastructure, VNPT AI has assembled a team of over 200 AI and data science specialists trained at prestigious institutions both in Vietnam and abroad. These experts bring hands-on experience solving real-world problems, pushing VNPT’s AI solutions closer to international standards while ensuring they remain aligned with Vietnam’s unique needs. The team will also play a vital role in executing VNPT’s internal AI Strategy.

At the launch event, VNPT CEO Huynh Quang Liem emphasized: “The establishment of VNPT AI represents our firm commitment to consolidating AI capabilities, advancing our transition to a ‘Data Driven, AI-first’ model. This is also a key step toward securing digital sovereignty and minimizing dependence on foreign platforms in essential sectors.”

According to Liem, VNPT began investing in AI seven years ago, driven by its strategic vision. The journey began with the establishment of the Innovation Center under VNPT IT, tasked with leading AI initiatives. With nearly 200 domestic and international experts, alongside top-tier GPU infrastructure and a vast dataset sourced from VNPT’s operations, the group has steadily built its own core AI capabilities - genuine, scalable, and grounded in real applications.

After years of persistent innovation, VNPT’s AI platform has achieved impressive results. It is the first Vietnamese AI platform to handle billions of transactions, serving tens of millions of citizens, businesses, financial institutions, and government agencies. Solutions such as iKYC, virtual assistants, and administrative chatbots have demonstrated both scope and impact. VNPT has also showcased its R&D prowess at international forums and competitions, and launched globally competitive solutions.

The creation of VNPT AI marks a decisive step in transforming AI into a core competency, a growth engine, and a strategic pillar of VNPT’s competitive edge.

“VNPT AI must take the lead in AI research and development, mastering technologies and models that carry Vietnamese intellectual DNA. This will affirm Vietnam’s scientific capabilities and VNPT’s pioneering role,” said Liem. “On the product front, VNPT AI must quickly deliver high-tech, practical AI solutions like data-mining AI and virtual assistants - starting within VNPT itself to realize our ‘AI First’ strategy. VNPT will serve as the launchpad for VNPT AI to thrive domestically and expand globally.”

To date, VNPT has developed over 100 specialized AI models, processing more than 2 billion user requests, serving approximately 40 million people, and partnering with over 200 enterprises and numerous government agencies nationwide. The launch of VNPT AI not only signifies a new phase of growth for the corporation but also reinforces its leadership role in Vietnam’s burgeoning AI ecosystem.
