VietNamNet Bridge - Mr. Tran Manh Hung will replace Mr. Vu Tuan Hung as the General Director of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) from August 6.

The decision was released by the Ministry of Information and Communications in the afternoon of August 6 and it took effect immediately.
Former VNPT General Director Vu Tuan Hung was transferred to the Personnel Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Mr. Tran Manh Hung (born 1959) VNPT started working at VNPT in late 1981. He served as Deputy General Director of VNPT in the period of 1999 - 2006, then as Deputy General Director of VNPT and Director of the Hanoi Post Office before becoming Director of the Hanoi Telecom Company from 1/2008 to present.
The new CEO of VNPT is praised as one of the outstanding faces of VNPT. In the period of 2004 - 2006, meetings related to competition between VNPT and Viettel usually took place around the debates between Mr. Tran Manh Hung and Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Deputy General Director of Viettel.
VNPT is facing many difficulties in business and is preparing for restructuring. According to the recent conclusions of the Government Inspectorate, the group itself has many problems in investment and management of capital of projects and long-term investments in other enterprises.
For example, the program to launch Vinasat satellite caused loss that exceed expectation of VND330 billion. The appointment of a new CEO for the group makes many people expect in positive changes in the coming time.
