Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has asked vocational training centres nationwide to find jobs for rural labourers and improve their income, before organising vocational classes for them.

He asked the labour, invalids and social affairs ministry to review the quality of vocational training centres. Sub-standard training centres will no longer be allowed to organise classes.

Dam said vocational centres should add more issues of gender, environment protection, culture and trading knowledge in the curriculum to improve the quality of labourers.

These centres must give aid to the learners to meet the training costs. For example, those devoted to the national revolutionary war, ethnic minorities, poor people, and people with disabilities, or those who had their cultivated land revoked, must be helped with travel and food costs.

Consultancy work must be enhanced to help rural labourers choose their right jobs and earn income.

Deputy PM Dam asked the ministry to finalise the amendment of the draft decree on providing vocational training to rural labourers by 2020.

The decree must be submitted to the government for approval before July 1.

Nearly 3.2 million labourers have been trained during five years of vocational training for rural labourers in the 2010-14 period. More than 10,530 of these labourers were poor, from ethnic minority groups and those whose cultivated land had been revoked. About 1.9 million of them received financial support during their study, and 1.5 million got jobs after finishing their study.
