VietNamNet Bridge – The Algeria Vovinam (Vietnamese Martial Arts) Federation (FAVV) was official launched during its congress in the capital city Alger on August 3.
Instructor Djouadj Mohamed, former Chairman of the Algeria National Committee on Vovinam (ANCV), the predecessor of the FAVV, reviewed the introduction, formation and development of the martial arts in Algeria over the past 12 years.
He thanked the country’s ministries, departments and local authorities for their great support for Vovinam to develop well.
On the occasion, the ANCV presented insignias to Vietnamese Ambassador Vu The Hiep, chairmen of some provinces and cities and representatives from local press agencies for their active contributions to introducing Vovinam to the public.
Participants unanimously approved the FAVV’s regulations and elected an 8-member executive board led by its new Chairman Djouadj Mohamed.
Vovinam was brought into Algeria by Djouadj Mohamed in 2001 and the FAVV now has 17 clubs with 12,000 members in 32 cities and provinces across the country.
