While VPF has permanently ended its contract with Nguyen Van Kien, it will ban Duong Van Hien, Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF)’s deputy head of the referee board, and referee Nguyen Trong Thu for a short time.

Kien made errors in the match between Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Sanna Khanh Hoa in the recent seventh round of V.League 1. His error helped hosts Khanh Hoa enjoy an unexpected penalty.

Thu, son of VFF’s referee board head Nguyen Van Mui, also made primary fouls in the match between Can Tho and Hanoi in V.League 1’s second round and between Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh in the sixth round.

According to VPF, Hien has not fulfilled his responsibilities as referee supervisor.

Hien is the No 1 candidate for the position of VFF’s referee board head for the 2018-22 term.

Mui refused to comment on VPF’s decision.
