SES said that they were building a new racetrack in the central highlands province of Lam Dong to continue their operations. In the meantime, 400 greyhounds at the Lam Son racetrack will continue to train at a facility in Ba Ria-Vung Tau while awaiting for the Lam Dong project to be completed.

With an investment of nearly USD 5 million, the Lam Son Greyhound Racetrack opened in 2000. A total of nearly 1,500 races have been organised here over the past 23 years, attracting more than 3.50 million visitors.

Earlier SES proposed to the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Provincial People's Committee to consider renewing their license for 25 more years until 2048.

According to SES, they had paid a total of VND45 billion in taxes during their 23 years of operation. If their license was renewed, the company would have to pay value-added taxes and special consumption taxes for dog racing that cost at least VND100 billion per year.

However, the municipal people's committee said that there was no dog racetrack with betting activities in their socio-economic development plan for the 2021-2030 period.

According to the local department of culture and sports, after the relocation of the greyhound racetrack, the old location would be used for other sporting activities.
