At 8am the phone stores of Vinaphone and Viettel opened but many people had been waiting there for hours.
At a shop on Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Hanoi, the first customers were there from 4am. The line began to grow quickly from 6:30am.
Mr. Le Ba Long was the first to buy the iPhone 5 at the store on Huynh Thuc Khang Street. He went to the shop from 4.30am, to buy a white phone, 16GB version.
According to the store manager, today they would sell 50 iPhone 5 to the market, with all versions 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and both black and white colors.
Inside the store, there were dozens of customers. Some buyers immediately opened the box to check the product. A few unlucky customers got the phones with slight scratches on the body.
This is the common situation of the iPhone 5 due to the use of an aluminum cover, which has been a complaint by many users in the world.
The iPhone 5 was not too "hot" as the iPhone 4 in Vietnam two years ago. This product only attracted a moderate number of visitors to the store this morning.
Mrs. Thu Ha from Kim Dong Street, Hanoi, said she went to the store at 6am but it was not so hard to wait and queue as two years ago, when she bought the iPhone 4 at a store of Vinaphone.
In fact, the current smartphone market has many options for consumers so the iPhone is no longer a "phenomenon" in the world of technology as before.
