Warren Buffett, billionaire investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. announced that he has been diagnosed with stage 1 prostate cancer, but his condition is "not remotely life-threating", according to media reports Wednesday.

Buffett, who will turn 82 this summer, stated in a letter Tuesday to shareholders that he would continue to run the company during the two-month radiation treatment that is scheduled to start in mid-July.

"I feel great - as if I were in my normal excellent health. And my energy level is 100 percent," Buffett wrote in the letter.

Stage 1 prostate cancer means the disease has been detected very early and it has not spread.

"The chance of dying of prostate cancer for Mr. Buffett in the next 10 years is probably 2 or 3 percent, so the prognosis is great," said Dr. Ralph deVere White, director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California, Davis. (Agencies)
