Trinh Van Quyet, FLC Chair, has been arrested for stock manipulation

The State Securities Commission (SSC) sent a dispatch recently to securities companies, asking to report margin trading related to the shares of the FLC ecosystem.

The companies need to report  outstanding loans provided for margin trading of all securities trading accounts opened at the companies and the amounts of margin securities used as security for margin trading, corresponding to each stock.

The report has to be sent to SSC before April 8.

Prior to that, the stock market witnessed abnormal transactions in many shares belonging to the FLC ecosystem. The prices of the shares increased to ceiling levels for a long time and then decreased to floor levels in the next trading sessions. And the trading volume was abnormally high in many sessions.

The HCM City Stock Exchange (HOSE) has publicized a list of tens of stocks which cannot satisfy requirements for margin trading in Q2, 2022, including shares of DNP-Tasco ecosystem, such as NVT, JVC and TDH, and some shares of businesses facing difficulties such as Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAG) and Truong Thanh Corporation (TTF).

Some stocks that have recently  entered the bourse are also eligible for margin trading, such as HHV and EVF.

The stock market has been bustling over the last two years, and many small- and mid-cap stocks have seen prices increase very sharply. NVT, a share of DNP-Tasco ecosystem, saw the sharpest increase in March on the HCM City bourse with prices hitting the ceiling levels in 12 trading sessions.

NVT is under the control of HOSE because of its negative profit. Meanwhile, CII, which has land in Thu Thiem new urban area, cannot satisfy the requirements for margin trading because the post-tax profit of the holding company in the 2021 consolidated financial report was a minus figure.

VIC of Vingroup owned by dollar billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong is also not eligible for margin trading because of the minus post-tax profit of the holding company.

The closing VN Index on April 5 decreased by 4.67 points to 1,520.03 points, while the HN Index fell by 2.59 points to 456.1 points, and UpCom Index increased by 0.03 points to 117.7 points. The liquidity was VND25.6 trillion, including VND21.8 trillion on HOSE.
