VietNamNet Bridge – The water pipeline from the Da River to Hanoi was broke Thursday, November 21, affecting the lives of about 70,000 households in the districts of Cau Giay, Hoang Mai and Thanh Xuan.

At 9 am on November 21, when inspecting the water pipe from the Da River, workers discovered the pipe on the Thang Long Avenue, in the area of Phu Cat commune, Quoc Oai district, Hanoi, was broke.

Until 3.30pm, workers began fixing the broken pipe. Two excavators and cranes and dozens of workers were sent to the scene.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa, who is in charge of the fixing task, said that this is a complicated task so until Saturday morning, November 23, the repair will be completed, at the cost of VND2 billion ($100,000).

Mr. Nguyen Anh Viet, director of the Clean Water Trading, Investment & Construction JSC said that the initial cause of the incident may be due to the weak ground, plus the close position of the water pipe to the highway. Previously, a similar incident occurred in the area, just a few hundred meters from the current site.

Viet said because of the incident, water supply for more than 70,000 households has been stopped. The entire Thanh Xuan district, part of Cau Giay, Dong Da, Hoang Mai, Thanh Tri and Tu Liem districts are affected.

This is the third time the water pipe from the Da River to Hanoi broken. The first time occurred in February 2012, affecting about 40,000 households. The second time happened in March 2013, affected more than 70,000 households in the districts of Hoang Mai, Cau Giay, Thanh Xuan, Thanh Tri and Tu Liem.
