In recent years, Ho Chi Minh City has introduced numerous products to tap into the potential of the city’s waterway tourism. However this kind of tourism has not yet fully met the demands from customers.

Ho Chi Minh City introduced its water bus service in late 2017. With a modern equipped system, the service offers a 10km route from Bach Dang port in District 1 to Linh Dong port in Thu Duc district.

The service was expected to boost momentum in waterway tourism, however the lack of connectivity and accompanying services hindered the new product’s growth. Consequently, the service has not been given much consideration as a potential tourism product.

Ho Chi Minh City has great potential for waterway tourism, which could bring the city another stable means of income each year. However, it’s a difficult task that requires the involvement of travel agencies and investors in order to boost the tourism product. –VNA
